City Living in the Country – Menifee, A Community Profile

The City of Menifee was officially incorporated on October 1, 2008, following a lengthy cityhood initiative that began almost ten years earlier. Once a bustling farm and mining community, the demographics began to shift in the 1960s as the Del Webb active adult community of Sun City was developed, following by substantial building of single family homes on the periphery of the senior neighborhoods. The incorporation effort also included the quaint village of Quail Valley to the northwest and portions of Romoland, an industrial and manufacturing community to the east. The once quiet town in the country was developing at leaps and bounds, and now enjoys the benefits of being a vibrant city in the country with diverse land uses and opportunities for investment, employment and housing options.
Today the community is home to nearly 75,000 people and encompasses over 50 square miles, making Menifee one of the largest cities geographically in southwest Riverside County. It is the site of Mt. San Jacinto Community College, a fully equipped surgical and emergency hospital at Menifee Community Hospital, and high end and big box retail such as one of the region's first Super Target's, Best Buy, BevMo! and Kohl's.
There is no shortage of recreation opportunities in Menifee either! Home to the Menifee Lakes Country Club, the community also boasts two golf courses in the northern Sun City area, a driving range to the south of the college, and quick access to Diamond Valley Lake for fishing and hiking and Kabian Park in the Quail Valley area, one of the county's finest rural regional parks for outdoor exploring.
Housing Options Include Menifee Foreclosures
As of this writing, there were 1298 homes for sale in the Menifee area. Nearly half of those homes, 561 to be exact, were Menifee foreclosures and Quail Valley bank homes. Another 150 Sun City short sales were also available. This is exciting news for buyers hoping to find the perfect Menifee bank home for investment or move up housing. Home prices have fallen over 35% since their peak in 2007, indicating that now is the time to buy into this dynamic community with country charm and city amenities, before prices go up or the current supply of Menifee bank owned homes is gone. Your choices include active senior living, casual ranch styles, executive neighborhoods and even rural residential estates perfect for your horses or small farm operation.
Menifee is Riverside County's newest "city", but the friendly people, good schools, quality shopping and enjoyable recreation make Menifee the one place you will want to stay for a long, long time.
